To find another interest, other than motorcycling, we went to Rex's Indoor Shooting range in Hendersonville, NC with a few of my guns. She really liked the Glock G19 and the 9mm round, and before I knew it, she was hooked on guns. Her first gun was a Ruger 10/22 that I bought for her as a gift, and then we went on a serach for her first handgun. She liked the Glock, but didn't like the lack of an active safety. After trying out several guns, she found out that she really liked my father's S&W 5906. In December of 2004, we went to a local gun show at found her a police trade-in S&W 5903. It cleaned up to look like new, and it is one of the best shooting semi-autos that I've ever shot.

Eventhough Vicki's 629 is in the picture above, here is another one because we really like the way the photograph came out. I gave this gun to Vicki for our first anniversary.

It ended up that I created a monster. We go to the range all the time and are constantly cruising through local gun shops and pawn shops looking for good deals. Vicki's collection has gotten fairly large in a short period of time.

Vicki's first time shooting the M38 resulted in this little bruise (click on the picture to enlarge it)...

The M38 shoots a pretty stout 7.62x54R round that has some good kick from a bolt-action, fairly light carbine. She could have easily quit shooting the gun after a few rounds, but proceeded to put about 40 rounds down-range. After those two boxes, she switched to the SKS....it seemed almost like a 22 rifle after the Nagant.
Vicki had been showing an interest in an AR-15 rifle, but no one seemed to offer what she wanted, and the prices were a bit high, so....she decided to build one. We found a good deal on a stripped Stag Arms lower, and she put a DPMS lower parts kit into it. I found her a nice set of Calvary Arms CAR stocks in purple and got them for her for Christmas. With a little bit of research, she picked up an assembled CAR-15 (XM-177 style) upper from "Model 1 Sales". Here is the final product complete with purple 30-round magazine:

Her acquisitions are slowing down, but you never know what she may pick up at a good deal.
